Meet Kate
Kate Landete is a Central Coast-based clinically registered Counsellor (PACFA) and an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Full Member of EMDRAA (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Association of Australia), having completed extensive training and supervision in trauma-focused therapy. Kate is also a Victims of Crime Counsellor in NSW.
She founded Kate Landete Counselling over six years ago with a focus on providing compassionate, evidence-based support for people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and complex life experiences. She works with men, women, and young people (12+) who are seeking support through difficult or overwhelming seasons of life.
How Kate Works
Kate’s approach is warm, grounded, and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapies including EMDR, Resource Therapy ACT, DBT, mindfulness, positive psychology, and parts work. Kate’s style is person centred, strengths based and neuro-affirming allowing her to tailor support to each person, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Alongside ongoing counselling, Kate also offers EMDR Intensive Therapy Packages for people who are wanting a more focused and immersive therapeutic experience. These intensives provide structured, extended sessions over a short period of time, allowing for deeper continuity and momentum when working through specific memories, experiences, or patterns that feel stuck.
Whether through weekly counselling or more focused intensive work, Kate adapts the pace and approach to suit what feels most supportive for each person.
Areas of Interest
Kate supports people experiencing:
Trauma and PTSD
Grief and loss
Anxiety and overwhelm
Depression and emotional distress
Life transitions and chronic stress
Perinatal mental health (fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and matrescence)
She has a particular passion for supporting women through the perinatal journey, including the emotional complexity, identity shifts, grief, and adjustment that can come with motherhood.
Experience
Kate holds a Bachelor of Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology and has worked across a range of settings including Lifeline crisis support, Headspace youth services, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). She also brings nearly a decade of experience managing a boutique health and fitness centre, giving her a broad understanding of wellbeing beyond therapy alone. More recently, she became an approved Victims of Crime Counsellor, extending her capacity to support people experiencing significant trauma.
Lived Experience
Kate’s professional work is informed by her lived experience of depression, postnatal anxiety, and chronic pain. This allows her to bring both clinical skill and genuine empathy to her work, creating a space where clients feel understood, supported, and not alone in what they’re navigating.
Working together
Whether through ongoing counselling or EMDR Intensive Therapy Packages, Kate’s focus is on providing a safe, compassionate space where healing, growth and transformation can take place in a way that feels structured, supported, and manageable.
